A rare opportunity for a life science graduate to launch their marketing career supporting one of the world’s leading academic institutions for medicine.
This is a 6 month contract giving you the marketing training and paid experience you need to start a career outside of the lab but at the heart of scientific innovation. You will be trained and mentored by Alix Mackay at The Life Sciences Marketing Academy and dedicated to our project supporting a world-renowned Medical School based in Tayside, Scotland. As the primary marketer on the project, you will get to use the science you love to lead the implementation of the marketing strategy - giving you the unique opportunity to directly contribute to the commercial success of this team of academics working at the cutting edge of medical innovation.
An academic background in a life science is important as the role requires grasping medical concepts, developing a deep understanding and communication of the very latest in medical innovation and health informatics.
As the role will be based with The Life Sciences Marketing Academy, it includes a marketing training and mentoring program to upskill the successful candidate to deliver the required activities.
This is a 6 month contract that will give you the paid marketing experience you need to get into marketing. Furthermore, on successful completion of the project, there will be the opportunity to apply for a permanent marketing role at the University itself.
JOB SUMMARY
The role will be responsible for the implementation of the marketing strategy for this world leading Medical School, specifically raising the awareness of the industry partnership opportunities with the nationally and internationally renowned academics within the School.
With an abundance of innovation and cutting edge approaches to developing healthcare solutions, the ambition for realising the potential of the research and know-how within the School is clear. We are now looking for a Trainee Marketing Exec to help them realise their goals by driving the daily implementation of the Marketing Strategy.
Essential For the role:
A bachelor’s degree or above in a life science
Excellent project management skills and a passion for organising multiple activities and achieving deadlines
Energy and drive to join this ambitious team
A track record of proactively taking responsibility for self-learning and development
A proactive and collaborative approach to achieving shared objectives
The confidence and emotional intelligence to engage with customers and represent the organisation
Experience of building an online network using social media platforms (personal or professional)
This is a full-time role currently based at home due to the Covid19 guidance so requires a reliable internet connection and a professional working space. There will also be regular strategy meetings in Glasgow and the opportunity to travel to the School itself in Tayside, Scotland.
Desirable for the role:
A interest or background in healthcare and medicine
Experience of adding content to a WordPress website or similar
Examples of writing content for projects, websites or publications
Experience of proactively building an audience using a social media platform
Work experience in or exposure to the pharmaceutical industry
RESPONSIBILITIES
With support and direction from the training provided by Alix Mackay at The Life Sciences Marketing Academy, you will be the member of the team responsible for driving the implementation of the Inbound Marketing strategy for this leading academic institution.
This is a role that requires tactical execution of the plan along with the ability to develop a longer term, strategic marketing capability. Whilst we will provide the relevant training for this, a proactive approach to your own professional development will be critical.
Implementation of the Marketing Plan (Training Provided)
Ensure relevant content is created by the team and published according to the Inbound marketing strategy
Contribute to the creation of relevant content through carrying out interviews with experts and undertaking desk research
Upload, update and publish content on the website’s content management system
Post content and generate engagement on the relevant social media platforms according to the Inbound marketing strategy
Proactively build a following on the relevant social media platforms with a focus on LinkedIn
Lead the creation of high value, downloadable content for clients and potential customers
Respond to website enquiries and social media posts
Build and manage the customer database
Engage with contacts through email marketing campaigns that are aligned with the Marketing Strategy
Ensure all activities comply with regulatory and GDPR requirements
CONTRACT DETAILS
This is a minimum 6 month contract with The Life Sciences Marketing Academy, dedicated to the project described above. Benefits include:
